Before Co-Founding FLAMINGTREE Solutions, LLC, Josh Shroyer worked in the Public Service sector.  He has been a professional Forester since 1996, working with the Missouri Department of Conservation as an Assistant Resource Forester for 3 and a half years and a Resource Forester for 16 years, then working for the Wyoming State Forestry Division as a District Forester for 4 and a half years. During this time, Josh managed both public and private forest lands, gained a vast background in all aspects of Urban and Community Forestry, and Forestry Information and Education. Josh has been a member of the Society of American Foresters (SAF) since 1994, and has been a SAF Certified Forester since 2001. (CF #1026) He is involved with the Tree Farm System serving on District and State Committees and being an active Inspecting Forester. Josh is also a member of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), is a Certified Arborist (ISA Certified Arborist RM-8189A), and is Tree Risk and Assessment Qualified (TRAQ). Josh is also currently a member of Riverton WY Tree Board, where he was Chairman for many years.

Recently, Josh was appointed to a 3 year term to the SAF Certification and Review Board serving 2023-2025, where he will assist the Society with the review and oversight of the SAF Certified Forester program.

Josh started in the fire service even earlier, joining the Wellington-Napoleon Fire Protection District in 1990.  Since then, he has worked for a number of agencies where he has continued to gain experience and qualifications. Going on over 30 years, Josh has fought wildfires in the Central Plains, the Midwest, the Lake States, and over most of the Western US. Josh maintains NWCG qualifications as Operations Section Chief Type 2, Operations Section Chief Complex, Liaison Officer, Incident Commander Type 3, Division Supervisor, Structure Protection Specialist, Strike Team/Task Force Leader, and Faller Type 1.  In the All- Hazards arena, he is qualified as Incident Commander Type 3, Operations Section Chief Type 3, Division Supervisor, and Task Force Leader. This captures Josh’s experience in more than just fire and includes response and recovery missions with floods, tornadoes, other wind events, and ice storms. Josh also has a vast prescribed fire background including writing burn plans and burn prescriptions and working on and conducting numerous prescribed burns.  Josh was a founding member of the Wyoming Prescribed Fire Council and is on both the Executive Board as the Outreach Coordinator, and the Advisory Board. In addition, Josh is a member of the Association for Fire Ecology where he is a Certified Senior Wildland Fire Manager and a Certified Wildland Fire Ecologist.
